REAL PATIENT DAY!

Okay well today went pretty well for the most part. I was SO nervous about this! Last night I kept having dreams about things that kept going wrong and I woke up a little scared for the day haha. I am glad that my husband was my first patient. If I was to have a complete stranger I think I would have had a panic attack. It was nice to have him write down probe depths for me and to allow me to poke him. I had enough time to scale one quad and I was feeling pretty confident and then came the scale check.............. ya i missed like 8 spots and could not feel them whatsoever....Yeah that was not fun at all. I just wish we could have more practice before we actually start patients next semester.

Mock Patient Day #4 LAST ONE!

Today went pretty well... I wish I was a little faster at probing. I am not a fan of probing yet probably because it takes about 45 minutes to do it! Megean was a super good pt to have she helped me out a ton with writing down the prob measurements. I only scaled one quad today and of course she had no calculus but it still took me the whole scale time because I wanted to make sure I didnt miss anything even though there wasnt anything haha.

Mock Patient Day #3

Today we had another mock patient day. I was the patient and was so grateful for that! I wanted to be able to watch how everything went again. Megan worked on me and she did a great job! I am getting a little nervous for real patients.... I just don't feel ready.... Oh well at least my husband is my first patient so if I mess up I wont be so embarrassed! Wednesday I will be the operator on Megan... hopefully it goes well :)

Air Poweder Polisher, Intrument Sharpening, and Sealant PEs

Today we passed off PE s for the majority of the time. For some reason instrument sharpening isnt clicking so well for me when it comes to all the different instruments....... We went over PSR and how to do a patient screening. Its weird to think that we only have to pass off one more PE for this semester... It has gone by so so fast

Air Powder Polish and Sealants

Today was a lot of fun. The air powder polisher in my unit wouldnt work and so it took forever to figure it out but after that it all went well. Although I dont know how much I will use it on my patients because it tasted like you had a gallon of salt in your mouth... ya pretty sick. Ive done a few sealants in my office so it wasnt too new for me. I think sealants are one of my favorite things to do minus the salt :) The semester is almost over! YAY!

2nd Mock Patient Day

Today I was the patient and it was way nice to sit there all clinic! :) Mckenna did a way good job with everything! I learn something new everyday that we need to put in the tx record, and on the blue and green forms. Watching her scale in clinic made me want to get out of the chair and practice scaling too! We also learned how to sharpen our instruments but we had like no time to do it so Im not quite a pro and sharpening yet ha

Okay when I found out I was an operater I was a little nervous but it actually turned out to be way fun! It took a long time and I still didnt scale the whole mouth... okay I didnt even finish a whole quadrant! It was nice to be able to see how everything runs..
