Another Day in Clinic

Today my mom came in today which was super nice of her becuase she is a teacher and it is a pain for her to get her lessons planned for the sub. I am so grateful for family! I got through the OD today and prof costley classed her as a 2. YAY! and UGG cuz I feel like I am getting class 2 s like crazy... Okay so maybe I have only see 2 1/2 pts with class 2 but still ha ha. I also did a full mouth today on her with the phosper plates. I will say I do like them a ton better than the conventional but it was hard flipping them around and figuring out which one goes where when you mount them but it worked out pretty well besides the fact that my mom is a gagger and it took quite some time to help your to stop gagging. Oh good times in the clinic haha. Everything is going so much better. I am not as stressed about clinic as I used to be. Yes, I am still stressed but no where to the point where I was 2 weeks ago when I couldnt sleep the night before. What a good feeling to get some sleep haha okay im just rambling now....

Exam class 2

Okay so today I worked on my dad who was a class two. It was a good experience for me....But the good news is i am finished with him and my class two exam so hopefully I passed. I was only able to pass off one pe today. I was hoping to pass off all my PEs for a class two but thats okay. My poor dad was ready to leave after 2 1/2 hours but Im so glad he came!

Full Mouth

Well today I did a full mouth with the conventional xrays . Taking the xrays took about 15 minutes and developing and mounting them took a bit longer.... say 45 minutes! Yeah I was a bit confused with 40 xrays in front of my face trying to mount them and figure out where they should go. My patient today was classified as a class two which I was super glad and super scared since prof costly told me that it would be best if I used this patient as an exam..uh... not ready for that quite yet.... but Im going to do it! So we will see how that goes on Monday. Just a tid bit nervous but oh well!

Getting better

Okay so today went a little better. I still had the intructor come in and tell me where all the clicks of calculus were then I scaled. I am starting to feel calculus a little bit.... slowly.... I used the ultrasonic today and there was some spots my patient was sensitive at but I think its because I need to adapt to the tooth more. I was very happy because one of my patients quads was a class 2! I am feeling much better about things. I cant wait until I can zip through the appointment and finish a patient in one day, OD, scale and everything!

Calculus detection!

Okay so for some reason I cannot for the life of me feel calculus! It is making me so frustrated right now...... :( I cant even feel if Im taking it off or not. My poor husband I just was poking him to death today haah. I had instructor snow tell me where the calculus was and then I went at it. I did use the ultrasonic today and I loved it. Im just gonna pray that I will be able to feel calculus someday.....

2nd Semester--- Ist Day

Well I cant believe christmas break is over! I really had a hard time getting back to school, but Im sure when I get into the swing of things I ll be glad Im here. Today we learned how to use the ultrasonic and the graceys. I love the ultrasonic! We ll see if I still love it when I use it on a real patient and not the typodont. I am so so so scared for this semester. Just the fact that I am not completely confident in scaling :(. Hopefully this semester goes well!
